Biographical Note
Onisemus Case was born in Plain Township, Wayne County, Ohio, April 25, 1845 to Onisemus [Onesimus], son of Augustus, and Sarah Williams Case. He had at least six siblings and was the youngest of five brothers, all of whom served in the Civil War. He enlisted in Company A, Indiana 155th Infantry Regiment on February 10, 1865 and was mustered out on August 4, 1865. He married Rhoda Dukes in Miami County, Indiana, January 1, 1868 and they had two children. He and a his partner operated a drugstore in Macy, Indiana in 1883, then he operated a hardware business in Macy for over 36 years. He was a member of the Masonic Order and of the Methodist church. He died suddenly, on September 6, 1912 and is buried at Plainview Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.
