Biographical Note

Arietta (Arratta) F. Seward was born on April 26, 1862 in Evansville, Indiana to Edwin and Elisabeth (Gunterman) Seward and was one of six daughters. Her father was a cousin of William Henry Seward, Abraham Lincoln's Secretary of State. She married George B. Bullock, who was born November 8, 1854 on January 21, 1885. They lived in Jackson, Indiana for most of their remaining years and had five children. She wrote the paper, "Jonesboro in 1830" in 1938 for the Southwest Indiana Historical Society. George Bullock died on July 14, 1934. Arietta F. Bullock died on September 1, 1945 and is buried in Gentryville, Indiana.
