This collection includes autographed, signed letters, commercial greeting cards, checks, tax forms,ration books, post cards and commercial invitations from many people in various locations, including Indiana ranging from 1839 to 1951 regarding family and business matters. Letter dated November 16, 1845 is in oversize folder (OBC091) and is fragmented.

Biographical Note

Martin V. Brutus was born in 1844 in Indiana. He and Melissa I.D. (also known as Tradora) Conrad (born in 1861) married on September 3, 1893 in Decatur County, Indiana. They had one child, John S. (Samuel) Brutus. Martin V. Brutus' death date is unavailable. Malissa Tradora Brutus married Luther L. Harcourt on September 8, 1905 in Rush, Indiana. Dora Harcourt and her son, Samuel Brutus, lived in Richland, Indiana in 1910. They had moved to Anderson, in Rush County, by the 1930 census and were living in Milroy, Indiana by the 1940 census. Dora's death date is unavailable.
