Biographical Note

Chauncey H. Brooks was born on March 9, 1839 in Indiana (or possibly in 1841 in Michigan) and served in the 30th Indiana Infantry, Company G during the Civil War as a private. He married Rachel Ann Newman in LaGrange, Indiana on November 29, 1863 and they had one child, Sarah/Sadie. They moved to Michigan, where he died on June 8, 1920 and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Coldwater, Michigan.
