This collection includes newspaper clippings of Kate Milner Rabb's column, "A Hoosier Listening Post," from the Indianapolis Star during September 13-17 and 19, 1928, regarding the family letters from the Bradley children to their parents, Burr and Esther Bradley in Salem, Indiana and Warsaw, Illinois ranging from 1843 to 1849 concering community news, family events, and daily life.

Biographical Note

Dr. Burr Bradley was born in Fairfield, Connecticut on February 17, 1790, and resided in Salem, Indiana from 1816 to 1847, married Esther William Plummer on June 14, 1818 in Marietta, Ohio. He served as postmaster in 1828 and again in 1841. Bradley and his wife had fifteen children, including Catherine, Maria, Ann Elizabeth, William Pierce, George, Eddy, Kate, Arthur, and Mary. The couple moved to Warsaw, Illinois in 1847, where Burr Bradley died on July 1, 1849.
