Biographical Note

Gus [Gustavius] C. Houston was born in January 1850 to Henry and Elizabth Houston in Indiana. He was the oldest of three children. Houston was a school teacher and surveyor in Bedford, Indiana from 1876 to circa 1880, a surveyor in Pueblo, Colorado from circa 1880-1890, then returned to Bedford as a surveyor, from 1890 to 1892. Houston married Sarah A. in 1900. He died in 1913 and is buried in Green Hill Cemetery, in Bedford, Indiana.
