Biographical Note
David [M] [C] Apgar [Abgar] [Abger] [Agler] was born February 9, 1842 in Ohio. He was the son of Peter C. and Elizabeth New Jones Apgar and had seven siblings. On May 7, 1861, Apgar enlisted in the 17th Indiana Regiment, Company B as a private to fight for the Union during the American Civil War; he was mustered out as a corporal on January 3, 1864. He then enlisted in the Indiana Regiment, Co. B, Veterans Corps and served until the end of the Civil War, being discharged on August 8, 1865.
He married Amanda A. [Arthelia] [Arthelea] Tuttle on July 31, 1867 in Miami County, Indiana, and they had five children: Cora B., Wineford, Charles, Homer and Florence. He worked as a farmer and died July 13, 1900. He is buried in the Springdale Cemetery in Bunker Hill, Miami County, Indiana.
