Biographical Note

Samuel Anglemeyer was born around 1844 in Mahoning County, Ohio, the son of Solomon and Catherine Anglemeyer. He was the second born of five children. The family moved to Huntington, Indiana by 1860. On October 10, 1861, Anglemeyer mustered into the 47th Indiana Infantry Regiment, Company F, fighting for the Union army during the American Civil War. At the end of his enlistment on December 15, 1863, he reenlisted for additional years with the 47th Indiana Veterans Infantry, Company F. He was mustered out on October 23, 1865.

He and his wife, Alice C. Anglemeyer, had two children, Mary E. and Bertie. Anglemyer worked as a carpenter in Huntington, Indiana and died at the National Soldiers' Home in Danville, Illinois on April 5, 1923. He is buried in the Shock Cemetery in Huntington, Indiana.
