Biographical Note

Edward L. Andrews, the son of James W. and Sarah E. Andrews, was born in Indiana in 1841, the oldest of seven children. He enlisted on Aug. 18, 1862 into the 71st Indiana Volunteer Infantry, Company K, then transferred on Feb. 23, 1863, as a private, into the 6th Indiana Volunteer Infantry, Company K. He was taken prisoner and died at Andersonville Prison, Georgia on June 14, 1864. He is buried at the Andersonville National Cemetery, Macon County, Georgia.
