Biographical Note

John H. Anderson was born in Hunterdon County, New Jersey on June 5, 1803 to John and Catherine Emery Anderson. Anderson married Nancy Ann Stevenson (1804-1878) on June 10, 1824 in Hunterdon and they had nine children. In 1832, he came to Indiana where he purchased land in both Madison and Hamilton counties. Anderson worked at the Hamilton County Sawmill. He served in the 142nd Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Company I during the Civil War. He died in Hamilton County, Indiana on April 8, 1881 and was buried in the (Old) Perkinsville Cemetery in Perkinsville, Madison County, Indiana.
