Scope and Contents
This collection includes oversize photographs from various photographers gathered by Indiana First Lady Judy O'Bannon and her staff in Indiana during 1999-2000 regarding scenes of nature, architecture, landscapes, people, animals, bridges, methods of transportation, and objects around Indiana for the new millennium in the year 2000.
The photographs were submitted by their creators to become a part of this photograph collection, a project of the Hoosier Millennium initiative headed by the Hoosier Millennium Task Force and Indiana's first lady. The photographs were matted for display and include a label, and sometimes an entry form, on the back.

Administrative History
The Hoosier Millenium project was a non-partisan initiative spearheaded by Indiana First Lady Judy O'Bannon to celebrate the new millennium in 2000. Communities from all 92 counties were encouraged to develop projects to improve those communities by setting tangible goals to restore old buildings, gather oral histories, organize clothing drives, improve water quality, create public art, and so on from 2000 to the state bicentennial in 2016. Governor Frank O'Bannon appointed a 25-member non-partisan task force for the initiative in January 1998, which then raised about $500,000 in money, goods, and services. That included a donated motorhome that the first lady used to tour many of these "Millennium Communities."
