Scope and Contents
This collection includes blueprints, plans, and other documents for Hurt and Curry's, Bancroft, and Riley Place on the east side of Indianapolis ranging from 1950 to 1956. There are also blueprints of Nowland Avenue from Emerson Avenue to Wallace Street dated 1954.

Biographical Note
Herbert Bloemker was born in 1902 in Indiana. Bloemker studied civil engineering at Purdue University. He was elected for two terms as county surveyor in 1935 and 1937; he also served as county engineer and chief deputy surveyor. Besides the work included in this collection, he was responsible for surveying and layout work on several commercial centers in Indianapolis, including the Speedway Shopping Center and the Chrysler plant on Shadeland Avenue. He is likewise known for his work on rebuilding the race track at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Bloemker owned and operated The Herbert Bloemker Company, a civil and consulting engineering and surveying firm located on Delaware Street in Indianapolis. Bloemker died on March 19, 1955.
