Historical Note
The Indiana constitutional convention that drafted the 1851 Constitution began in Indianapolis on October 7, 1850. The document drafted at the 1850-1851 convention remains Indiana’s constitution to this day. However, since that time there have been several changes made to the constitution, including the use of gender-neutral language.
