Germany and a few Belgium, England, and France photographs, 1945 April-July

 Item — Box: 3

Scope and Contents

From the Collection: This collection contains photographs taken by a military officer, Lieutenant Colonel Goodwin during his time overseas in World War II, ranging from August 1943 until July 1945. Some of the photographs resemble sightseeing snapshots, including pictures of London and Paris. However, most of the images give a good view of what World War II did to England and the European continent. There are some before and after bombing photos of England. Also included are pictures of some of the men that Goodwin served with during his work in the military. Photographs of Germany include those of and from Adolph Hitler's house at Berchtesgaden and the S.S. Headquarters near there. The photographs start out in England, then move on to France. There are a few select pictures taken of Belgium and some of Germany as well. The descriptions of the images are taken from the backs of the photographs and were written by Goodwin.
