From the Collection:
The collection consists of correspondence to Joshua Leach’s brother James, who was a lawyer in Stamping Ground and New Castle, Kentucky. The correspondence covered politics, business transactions (railroad and land), and family matters. In addition, the collection also includes letters from Leach’s relatives in Weatherford, Texas (1860–1861) and Natchez, Mississippi (1867–1868).
The collection also contains business papers of the Cincinnati and Indianapolis Junction Railroad Company and leach’s personal land matters. The papers relate to purchases, appraisal of land, company finances, lawsuits, and other legal and financial issues (1853–1867). The collection also contains an account booklet of 1853 and papers regarding land in Union County, Indiana (1831–1838).
