Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The collection includes indentures, mortgages, abstracts of titles, and other legal documents from William Henry Harrison Miller regarding his property ownership in Indianapolis (1874-1906) as well as correspondence, reports, and financial papers regarding the construction and maintenance of said properties; letters of condolence to his wife and children at his death; several of Miller’s speeches; and a report to the U.S. Circuit Court on the case of James R. Jessup vs. the Wabash, St. Louis and Pacific Railway Company (1907).

The 15 volumes (V101) consist of his ledger book recording his trustee accounts and Miller’s letter books, which contain his correspondence regarding his legal work, his work as U.S. Attorney General, and personal and financial matters, ranging from 1873 to 1911.

There is also an oversize folder of certificates ranging from 1889 to 1894 (OBC060).

Correspondents include Albert J. Beveridge, Oscar Bohlen, Mary Lord Harrison, and James E. Watson.
