Scope and Contents

From the Collection: This collection contains correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, manuscripts, and copies of the published articles and short stories of Raymond “Ray” Millholland ranging from circa 1912 to 1971. The collection includes letters exchanged between Ray, his wife, and their sons Robert “Bob” and James “Jim” while the sons served in the Army Airforce and Navy during World War II (1942-1945); two sets of transcriptions of the letters transcribed by the Millholland’s youngest son, Arthur “Mac”; correspondence, press releases, and other documents related to his work with the War Production Board (1942-1944); correspondence, research documents, and manuscripts regarding his work on a biography of John L. Savage (1942- 1949); short story manuscripts and related correspondence (1920-1956); and copies of his articles and short stories published in various publications (1935-1951). Also included are copies of The Log, a publication of the Sub-Chaser Post (1920-1921); photographs from World War I and World War II and the War Production Board (1918-1945); correspondence from the Imperial War Museum regarding the donation of a copy of his novelThe Splinter Fleet (1936); and a copy of the Summer 1971 edition of the Saturday Evening Post. The oversize folder (OBC171) contains a November 23, 1938 full page advertisement from Variety for the movie Submarine Patrol; a small broadside advertisement for the movie Girl from God’s Country (1940); full page newspaper clippings of World War II and labor management topics (1941-1943); and a copy of the June 6, 1947 edition of Ten High, a weekly newspaper of the Stuttgart military post (OBC171).
