Scope and Contents

From the Collection: This collection consists principally of Thaddeus Butler’s papers relating to his work with the Miami Indians (1880-1882). Included are his correspondence and instructions from the Office of Indian Affairs, and copies of his censuses and payment records for the Miami Indians in Indiana, Kansas, the Indian Territory (Oklahoma), and other areas.

There are two oversize collections including Miami Indian payroll list, 1866 (OBC116); Eel River, Miami Indian census rolls, 1884/04/07 (OBD039).
