Scope and Contents
From the Collection:
This collection contains the copies of papers from George Allen in Indiana ranging from 1851 to 1895. The bulk of the collection is made up of correspondence between George Allen and his family, from 1856 to 1870, while the Allen family moved to Iowa, Missouri and Kansas. There is also an account book (1866-1889) kept by George Allen for a general store. The collection also contains a cash book, also kept by Allen, in which he records all cash received and paid out. It is dated throughout the book and also has page numbers. As pages are not dated consecutively, the cash book has been arranged by page numbers.
