Scope and Contents

From the Collection: This collection contains personal documents, teacher resources, and classroom activity supplies of Georgia E. Bailey Bahr. Bahr's documents include reunion programs and commemorative books from Marion High School, Marion College and Ball State University (1966-1987); three Marion College Bulletins from 1955; several directories of Marion, Indiana teachers (1938-1949); and the pamphlet, "Our Wee Ones" published by Rev. M.F. Keiter (April 24, 1898). Her teaching resources and supplies include workbooks, government publications, and magazines regarding children's education (1927-1952); My Weekly Reader newspapers, record booklets, and teacher's editions (1943-1952); the hectograph books, "Activity Pictures to Color" by American Education Press (1937),Health, Safety, and Good Manners posters (1944) and "More Art Aids" by Hayes School Publishing Company (1947), and the advertisement booklet, "Ready-to-Use Seatwork" by Hamilton Publishing Company (circa 1951); and patterns and photostat copies of art activities for the classroom.

Other items of note in the collection are a collection of blackboard stencils; a "Stenso Map of the United States" (1943); a set of 49 index cards with instructions for a variety of children's games including Red Rover, Hot Potato, Squirrels in the Trees, and Baste the Bear (circa 1930s-1950s); and student art work of the story of Betsy Ross and types of transportation (undated).
