This collection includes correspondence, depositions, and other documents related to Anson Wolcott's claim against the U.S. government for the loss of his side-wheel steamboat "Fawn" that he claimed was seized and pressed into service by government troops at Natchez, Mississippi in October 1864 during the Civil War (1870-1873). The collection also includes a circular printed by Wolcott explaining his reasons for withdrawing as the Greenback party candidate for governor (October 4, 1876).
