Scope and Contents This collection contains photocopies and typed transcriptions of Civil War letters and documents written by and about Henry Clay Loveland and his parents, Ebenezer and Jane. The first item is an 1850 certificate of membership to the American Legal Association for Ebenezer P. Loveland. On April 27, 1862, Clay wrote to his family from Pittsburg Landing, where the Battle of Shiloh had been fought on April 7 and 8. He arrived after the fighting.
