Scope and Contents This collection includes Charles H. Davis's certificate of appointment to the rank of sergeant in Company A, 19th Indiana Regiment signed by Col. Solomon Meredith at the head quarters of the regiment at Fort Craig, Virginia on October 14, 1861. The certificate is also signed by Adjutant of the Regiment John P. Wood.
