Henry D. Washburn letter

Scope and Contents The collection contains one letter written in Savannah, Georgia, dated February 1, 1865. In the letter, Col. Washburn recommends Dr. James K. Bigelow, surgeon with the 8th Indiana Infantry Veteran Volunteers, for brevet promotion. Dr. Bigelow entered the service on April 23rd, 1861, and served three months in Western Virginia. Col. Washburn has known Dr. Bigelow since August 1861. Dr. Bigelow served in the battles of Pea Ridge, Port Gibson, Champion Hill, Black River Bridge, Vicksburg, Jackson...

Scope and Contents This collection contains photocopies of poems, songs, scriptures and corrrespondence of the Mallery, Sallee, and Emmons families (1834 -1892). Several letters are written by Moses E. Sallee while he was with Company L, Indiana 8th Cavalry Regiment during the U.S. Civil War. Also included is the account book of J.M. Mallery of Noblesville, Indiana is (1835-1858). Some of the photocopies are illegible.

Scope and Contents This collection contains original papers, letters, and booklets from Thomas Jackson ranging from 1855 to 1908. Folder two contains pension requests for Jackson and other veterans. There is a Grand Army of the Republic ribbon and a badge. The collection also includes an 8-page document narrates Lovell Harrison Rousseau’s raid into Alabama and Georgia.
