Scope and Contents This collection contains a typewritten copy of Mahlon Slutz's reminiscences of his service with the 107th Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. Slutz's reminiscences begin with his first attempt to enlist in the army in December, 1861 and his eventual enlistment with the 107th on August 11, 1862. Slutz mentioned battles and skirmishes he and his regiment were part of and shared his experiences at Gettysburg, including his wounding, capture and escape from the Confederate Army.
